FRP/GRP Mortar Pipe, also referred to as RPM pipe, is a composite pipeline manufactured via the filament winding process. It is composed of an inner liner, structural winding layer, resin‑mortar layer, and external corrosion‑resistant layer. Since its launch, it has been widely adopted worldwide for water and fluid transmission due to its light weight, high strength, high stiffness, and low cost.


By the mid‑1990s, approximately 160,000 kilometers of RPM pipe had been installed in the United States. In Europe, newly laid large‑ and medium‑diameter RPM pipes for water supply and sewage accounted for 30%–50% of total pipeline installations. In Japan, the total installed length exceeded that of steel pipe and concrete pipe combined. In the Middle East, nearly all pipelines for water supply, sewage, and desalinated seawater use RPM pipe.


Product Structure:

The pipe consists of four integrated layers:

Inner layer: High resin‑rich corrosion‑resistant and anti‑seepage layer

Wound layer: High‑strength fiberglass reinforcement layer

Resin‑mortar layer: Core layer for stiffness improvement and cost reduction

External corrosion‑resistant layer: Weather‑resistant and anti‑aging protective layer

Key Properties & Advantages:

1 Light Weight, High Strength & High Stiffness

Density: 1.7–2.1 g/cm³, about 1/5 of steel pipe, 1/4 of cast steel pipe, and 3/4 of prestressed concrete pipe (PCP).

Fiber content reaches 70%, ensuring sufficient strength. The mortar layer is placed in the low‑stress zone, greatly increasing stiffness without reducing pipe strength.


2 Excellent Corrosion Resistance

The inner liner uses a high resin content (up to 80%) fiberglass‑reinforced layer, customizable for different media. It provides reliable corrosion resistance and zero

leakage without additional anti‑corrosion treatment.


3 Superior Hydraulic Performance

Extremely smooth inner surface; roughness coefficient as low as 0.0084; friction factor f = 0.000915, much lower than steel pipe and PCP.

Hydraulic factor C remains stable at 140–150 for long periods.

Head loss is significantly reduced; conveying capacity improves by more than 20%.

Under the same flow rate, a smaller diameter can be used, lowering project investment.


4 Sanitary & Safe

Made from certified unsaturated polyester resin.

Inner surface is smooth, non‑toxic, and meets national drinking water standards.

No scaling, no algae adhesion, safe for drinking water transmission for over 20 years.


5 Good Shock Resistance

Combines the advantages of rigid and flexible pipes.No cracking or delamination even at 25% deformation, providing strong earthquake and foundation settlement adaptability.


6 Wear Resistance

Inner liner uses highly wear‑resistant resin, extending service life.


7 Low Temperature Resistance

No cracking at ‑40°C, with no decline in mechanical strength.


8 Strong Environmental Adaptability

Suitable for beaches, seabeds, rivers, mountains, marshes, deserts, and plains.

Features fast installation, convenient transportation, and long service life.
